Why repair a PDF
An interrupted download, a USB drive pulled out too soon or software that produces malformed files is all it takes to make a PDF unreadable. Your reader then shows an error or blank pages, or simply refuses to open it. Very often, the content is still there and only the file structure is damaged: Repair PDF rebuilds it so you can recover damaged PDF content.
LordOfThePDF first tries to rebuild that structure with qpdf, which keeps the content as is. If that's not enough, Ghostscript rereads the document and writes a new version of it. To be honest: a truncated or badly damaged file can't always be fully recovered, and missing pages don't come back.

Are my files safe?
They are processed on our servers and deleted as soon as the repaired PDF is sent back to you. Nothing is kept, viewed or shared.
Can I always fix corrupted PDF files?
No. Structural errors are easy to fix, but if part of the content is missing, for example after a cut-off download, it can't be rebuilt.
My PDF is password protected, can I repair it?
Remove its protection first with the Unlock PDF tool, if you know the password.
Can I repair several PDFs at once?
Yes, up to 20 files, 100 MB max each. You get them back together in a ZIP archive.
Do I need an account?
No. LordOfThePDF works without signing up and without an email address.
