Why resize an image
A website, a social network or a form often expects a specific size: a banner 1,200 pixels wide, a square profile picture, an image that doesn't exceed a certain dimension. Resize image files before uploading them: when you change image size yourself, the picture isn't rejected, distorted or cropped at random by the service that receives it.
If you enter a width and a height while keeping the aspect ratio, the image fits inside that frame without being distorted. Uncheck the option to force both values exactly. Shrinking an image makes it lighter, while enlarging it beyond its original size adds no detail: the result may look blurry.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images safe?
They are processed right in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers, your photos never leave your device.
Will my image be distorted?
No, as long as the Keep proportions option stays checked. The image then keeps its width-to-height ratio.
Can I enlarge an image?
Yes, up to 400% by percentage. But enlarging doesn't invent detail: a small image that is enlarged will look less sharp.
Does the format of my image change?
No. A JPG stays a JPG, a PNG stays a PNG and a WebP stays a WebP.
How many images can this image resizer handle?
You can resize up to 20 images at a time, 50 MB max each, all to the same size.
