Why convert a PDF to Excel
Copying a statement, an invoice or a price list by hand takes time and lets errors slip through. When you convert PDF to Excel, you get the data back in cells, ready to sort, filter or use in your calculations. The XLSX file opens in Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets.
Each page of the PDF becomes a sheet in the workbook. When a table is detected, its rows and columns go into the cells. Otherwise, the page text is copied line by line. The result depends on the structure of the PDF: a table with clear borders gives the best result, and a scan must go through OCR PDF first.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files safe?
They are processed on our servers and deleted as soon as the workbook is sent back to you. Nothing is kept, viewed or shared.
How is the workbook organized?
One sheet per page of the PDF. Detected tables are placed in the cells; on a page with no table, the text is copied line by line.
How well does it extract tables from PDF files?
It depends on the structure of the PDF. A table with well-defined rows and columns is usually recognized well. Merged cells or a free-form layout may need touch-ups.
My PDF is a scan, will it work?
A scan only contains images, with no text to extract. Run it through the OCR PDF tool first, then convert the result to Excel.
Can I convert several PDFs at once?
Yes, up to 20 files, 50 MB each. You get the workbooks back together in a ZIP archive.
