Why extract images from a PDF
A screenshot only gives you a reduced copy of a photo. When you extract images from PDF files, you get the ones actually stored in the document, at their original resolution: catalog photos, report illustrations, logos or diagrams. It's the easiest way to save images from PDF documents, then reuse them elsewhere or edit them.
JPEG images are kept as they are, with no extra compression. The others are saved as PNG, with no loss of quality. Text and vector drawings are not images, so they are not extracted: to get a whole page as an image, use the PDF to JPG tool instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file safe?
It is processed on our servers and deleted as soon as the archive is sent back to you. The extracted images are deleted at the same time: nothing is kept, viewed or shared.
What format does the PDF image extractor use?
JPEG images stay JPEG, untouched. All the others are saved as PNG. They come together in a ZIP archive.
Is image quality preserved?
Yes. Images are extracted at their original size, exactly as they are stored in the PDF, with no downscaling.
Why don't some images show up?
A chart, a logo or a diagram may be drawn as vector graphics rather than saved as an image. In that case, convert the page with PDF to JPG.
What size PDF can I upload?
A file of up to 100 MB.
