How to blur part of an image

  1. 1 Add your image Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file, or drag it into the box.
  2. 2 Draw the areas to hide Draw as many areas as you need, then choose blur or pixelate and its strength.
  3. 3 Download Get your image, with the areas permanently hidden.

Why blur part of an image

Before posting or sending a photo, it's best to hide what's nobody else's business: the face of a child or a passerby, a license plate, an address, a number on a document. Blur image areas only where needed, or pixelate image details, and the rest stays intact and clear.

Blur softens the area, pixelation turns it into big squares. Either way, turn up the strength for text or a face: a blur that's too light can leave what it hides guessable. The effect is burned into the saved image, it's not a layer that could be removed later.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image safe?

It is processed right in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers, your photo never leaves your device.

Can someone else undo the blur?

No. The original pixels are replaced in the saved image, there's no layer to remove. Choose a strong enough setting so nothing stays readable.

Blur or pixelate, which should I choose?

Both hide things effectively. Blur is more subtle, pixelation clearly shows that the area was hidden.

Can I blur license plate numbers and faces in the same photo?

Yes, draw as many as you need. You can undo or redo each step before downloading.

Is there a limit?

The tool handles one image at a time, up to 50 MB.
